- In December 2006 a new book on the archaeological and
historical-geographical issues in environmental planning has been
published, based upon the contributions of the 2004 conference in
Wageningen, the Netherlands. See the books
page. The book will be officially presented to Kees de Ruiter,
director of the National Service for Archaeology, Cultural Landscape
and Built Heritage (RACM), on 23 March 2007, 15.00 in room 1/2 of the GAIA
building, Droevendaalsesteeg 3, Wageningen. The meeting (in Dutch)
will include presentations of prof. Arnold van der Valk, prof. Tom
Bloemers, prof. André van der Zande and other researchers.
- In September 2006 prof.dr.ir. Hubert N.
van Lier retired as chairman of ISOMUL. Hubert van Lier,
co-founder of ISOMUL, has been chairman since ISOMUL was formed during
the 1970s by a small group of scientists from various nations, all
having an interest in the field of rural land use planning. He has
been the driving force behind many of the organization's workshops and
publications. The two successors of Prof. van Lier as chairman of ISOMUL
are: prof.dr. Pat D. Taylor from the University of Texas at Arlington
(USA), also co-founder of ISOMUL, and prof.dr. Arnold J.J. van der
Valk from Wageningen University (the Netherlands). See the organization

- The 9th Annual Inter-Regional Conference
EnviroWater2006 - Concepts for Water management and
Multifunctional Land-Uses in Lowlands, has been held at the
UNESCO-IHE in Delft, the Netherlands, under auspices of Section 1 Land
and Water Engineering of the CIGR and ISOMUL. See the workshops
page.

- The Fifth International Workshop on
Sustainable Land Use Planning has been held from June 7 to 9, 2004 in Wageningen,
The Netherlands. The topic of the workshop was Multiple
Landscape - merging past and present in landscape planning. The

page.
